Thumbs up, Dr. Patricia Kallemeier talks about the thumb: risk categories, signs and symptoms and treatments. Osteoarthritis, or degenerative arthritis, is a process that occurs with aging and describes the deterioration of the joint cartilage. Thumb arthritis is the second most common type of arthritis in the hand; the most prevalent hand arthritis involves the last joint in each finger.
Dr. Kallemeier is an Iowa native and University of Iowa graduate. She joined DMOS Orthopaedic Centers in 2007 after completing an extensive Hand Surgery Fellowship at Washington University. Her interest and specialty training is in hand, wrist and elbow surgery. Dr. Kallemeier believes in patient-centered care and works with each patient to determine surgical and non-surgical options. She ensures her patients have all their questions answered and is passionate about helping patients optimize and improve their health.

Dr. Thomas Dulaney discusses Fragility Fractures and the effect osteoporosis has on the body with Joint Effort host, Dr. Barron Bremner. Dr. Dulaney defines these fractures, common causes of bone weakness, and treatment plans for these types of injuries.
Dr. Dulaney sees patients of all ages with a wide variety of conditions including, but not limited to, total knee and hip replacements, rotator cuff repairs, knee scopes, simple hand procedures, and other various orthopedic procedures. He began his career practicing out of the DMOS office in Carroll, IA, for 17 years before moving back to the Des Moines area to be closer to his sons. He practices in both the DMOS West Des Moines and DMOS Ankeny locations.
