Tuesday Jun 01, 2021
Dr. Brock Reiter discusses hand and upper extremity nerve entrapments and the connection with neuropathy including; carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, radial tunnel, and tennis elbow. Neuropathy often causes pain and numbness as a result of damage to the peripheral nerves, the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. Carpal tunnel syndrome is numbness and tingling in the hand and arm that is caused by a pinched nerve in the wrist. Cubital tunnel syndrome, also known as ulnar nerve entrapment, occurs when the ulnar nerve, which travels down your neck into your hand, becomes compressed or irritated. Radial tunnel syndrome is caused by pressure on the radial nerve, often at the elbow. Tennis elbow is inflammation, irritation, or sometimes microtearing of the tendons that connect the forearm muscles on the outside of the elbow.
